Disperse Printing Thickener

Products Description

SAL THICKENER is a natural polysaccharide polymer.

This industrial-grade powder, when hydrated, produces a solution with extremely high viscosity and unique rheological properties. It is specifically processed to be an ideal, natural thickener for paste preparation in disperse dye printing, particularly for polyester (PET) and its blended fabrics. It is renowned for producing sharp outlines and high color yield in fine-design printing.

Key Characteristics & Performance

High Color Yield (K/S Value): Exhibits low affinity for disperse dyes, resulting in excellent dye transfer to the fabric and vibrant, saturated prints.

Excellent Rheology (Pseudoplasticity): High viscosity at rest prevents bleeding of the print paste. Viscosity drops instantly under shear (during squeegee application) for easy screen penetration and leveling, then immediately recovers to hold sharp, clean print outlines.

Good Water Retention: Prevents migration of dyes before fixation, reducing washing-off staining.

Excellent Wash-Off Property: The gum film is easily removed during soaping and washing, leaving the printed fabric with a soft handle.

Compatibility: Stable and compatible with various disperse dyes and common printing auxiliaries (e.g., Urea, Resist Salt S).

Recommended Formulation & Paste Preparation

Typical Paste Concentration:4% - 6% (Adjust based on design fineness and desired viscosity).

Pasting Procedure (Critical for performance):

1. Fill the paste preparation vessel with cold water under vigorous mechanical agitation.

2. Slowly and evenly sift the thickener into the vortex to ensure complete dispersion and avoid lump formation ("fish eyes").

3. Continue stirring for 1-2 hours at high speed to allow full hydration and swelling at ambient temperature.

Typical Print Paste Recipe (Example):

* Thickener: 50% - 70%

* Liquid thickener past: 30% -50%

* Disperse Dyes: X%

* Urea: 0% - 5%

* Resist Salt S: 1%

* Water: To 100%

Application Process

Suitable for flatbed and rotary screen printing machines.

Standard Process Flow: Paste Preparation → Stock Color Preparation → Printing → Drying → Thermo-fixation (180-185°C for 6-8 min) → Washing-off → Reduction Clearing → Washing → Drying.

Handling & Storage

Packaging: 25 kg per bag. Polyethylene liner inside woven polypropylene bag.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Keep bags sealed and protected from moisture to prevent caking.

Shelf Life: 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored under recommended conditions.

Important Notes

Paste Preparation is Critical: Incomplete hydration will lead to unstable viscosity and potential screen clogging. Ensure adequate mixing time and power.

Preservation: Prepared base paste should be used promptly. For storage beyond 24 hours, a suitable preservative must be added to prevent microbial spoilage.

Natural Variation: As a product of natural origin, slight batch-to-batch variations in viscosity may occur. Lab-scale testing prior to full-scale production is advised.
