P-tert-Butylphenol (PTBP) is a multifunctional organic intermediate widely used in the chemical industry. In resin production, it acts as a modifier for phenolic and epoxy resins, significantly improving their heat resistance and adhesion properties; it is also a key raw material for oil-soluble tackifying resins. In the surfactant field, PTBP is a core intermediate for the synthesis of nonionic surfactants (such as alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ethers), which have important applications in the textile and daily chemical industries. As an antioxidant, PTBP effectively delays the aging of polymeric materials such as rubber and plastics, and serves as a stabilizer for lubricating oils/fuel oils (typically added at 0.1-0.5%). Furthermore, it has important applications in pharmaceutical and pesticide synthesis, UV absorbers (such as those absorbing ultraviolet light at wavelengths of 280-320 nm), and the preparation of specialty dyes.
